Last night, Building Blocks played host to CodeUp in our Manchester office, using the large conference room and meeting rooms for their monthly mentoring sessions.
Along with mentors, myself and organiser Claire Dodd, 36 attendees came to learn a variety of coding skills from the basics of HTML and CSS, through to Java, C# and even a smidgen of PHP!
It’s a great feeling being able to help people in the community who come to learn and improve their technical skills, regardless of current ability. It’s also rewarding to be able to show off our office and talk about the things we do at Building Blocks to hopefully inspire the next generation of coders!
The was the first CodeUp session to be held in its new home here at Building Blocks. The monthly sessions, which take place on the last Wednesday of every month, have been gaining in popularity since they began earlier this year, and quickly outgrew their original venue.
The evening went down very well with the attendees and mentors enjoying the atmosphere in the office (we had to prise a couple away from the pool table!). I had a few enquiries about what happens on a typical day in a digital agency - if you're interested in this too, check out Billy, Jordan and Tim's blogs...
