2015 has been yet another exciting year at Building Blocks. In between launching digital solutions for our growing global client base, we expanded into mainland Europe and the East coast of America, cemented our position as a top 100 agency, and picked up a host of awards and accolades from our technology partners.
Here’s a round-up of some of our key achievements in 2015.
In May we announced our expansion into mainland Europe, with the opening of a new office in Zaragoza, Spain. Located 300km to the west of Barcelona in the province of Aragón, the Zaragoza office is the BB home of a team of highly-skilled developers, who work with the wider team to deliver digital solutions for our clients.
In September, Building Blocks officially opened its office on the East coast of the USA, headed-up by Eric Schmitt who joined us as Managing Director. Eric previously held a senior role at SDL, where he ran its North America Web Professional Services business, before transitioning to a global role where he managed a worldwide team of 135 people.
Speaking about this senior appointment, our CEO, Jasper van de Luijtgaarden, said, “North America is a huge growth market for us; in the past year, we have expanded our operations to cope with the demand for our services. We envisage that with Eric at the helm to spearhead our ambitious expansion plans, our US operations will continue to grow exponentially going forward.”
Top 100 Digital Agency
After being tipped by Econsultancy as ‘ones to watch’ in last year’s Top 100 Digital Agencies Report, we successfully secured a place in the 2015 rankings. Our inclusion in this year's report reflects our solid growth, and cements our position as one of the leading digital agencies in the UK.
Partner Awards & Accolades
In April, SDL presented us with the award for ‘Most Implementations’ at the SDL Alliance Summit. The award recognises Building Blocks' stand-out success in delivering the most SDL technology solutions out of all partners, in the past year. Building Blocks has been an SDL partner for over eight years, and has delivered over 60 implementations.
Building Blocks’ VP of Technology, Chris Morgan, and Senior Developer, Rob Stevenson-Leggett, were again selected as SDL Tridion Most Valued Professionals in 2015. This is the fourth year running that we have been represented in the MVP community.
Following a hugely successful year of implementations, we were awarded Gold Implementation Partner status by Sitecore, reflecting our capability to deliver on its complete vision for customer experience management, including implementing complex digital marketing solutions and educating customers on the evolving digital landscape. Our US division, Building Blocks (US) LLC, has also officially become a Sitecore implementation partner.
In 2015, we cemented our partnership with e-Spirit. Building Blocks Co-founder, Andy Iddon, was invited to deliver a keynote presentation with e-Spirit’s CEO Jörn Bodemann at its summit in Dortmund, Germany. Andy was also asked to join e-Spirit to deliver a CMSwire webinar on the subject of Digital Transformation, and co-presented with Oliver Jaeger at the Figaro Digital Conference in London in November.
Celebrity Cruises “delighted with the seamless success”
Following the success of the mobile-responsive website in Ireland, we launched Celebrity Cruises' .co.uk site in March 2015.
The site’s improved itinerary content, powerful imagery and simplified booking process has improved conversion rates, with online revenue increasing 35% year-on-year and mobile bounce rates decreasing by 35%.
Toby Shaw, Director of PR & Marketing at Celebrity Cruises, said, "We couldn’t be more delighted with the seamlessness and success of this project...We are on the journey together to improve not only our website, but our business as a whole."
“Doing things differently” at dwf
British commercial law firm, dwf LLP, was keen to implement a digital transformation strategy to improve customer experience, whilst delivering operational efficiencies. The organisation had already identified that digital could provide a key differentiator for it in the legal sector, and sought a like-minded agency who could help them develop and implement an innovative new digital case management platform.
Building Blocks delivered a centralised, web-based, case management extranet – dwf link. Andrew Leaitherland, dwf’s Managing Partner & CEO, said, “We do things differently. dwf link is our latest web based service that delivers a collaborative and transparent way of working.”
The system provides secure and timely legal case information to clients and lawyers. Clients are able to access, manage and share legal cases, important documents, products and contacts all in one secure location, at any time and from any device, without the need to install system software.
The project has been a great success, and we will continue to work with dwf in 2016 to deliver new functionality, including marketing automation.
Centralising a B2B global leader
Element Materials Technology is the recognised global leader in materials testing and product qualification testing. With origins tracing back to 1827, today the company employs over 1,800 people in 51 facilities in the US and Europe.
In 2015, we were appointed by Element to design and build a mobile-responsive site, to support the re-brand of the company and help position them as thought leaders.
Built on Sitecore, this project is the first phase of an ongoing digital roadmap, which will see the integration of a number of auxiliary websites, and the synchronisation of the organisation's offering into service-led information architecture.
Welcoming new clients
As well as continuing to work closely with our existing clients, we welcomed a host of global organisations in 2015. We look forward to working with you all throughout next year and beyond.
The Building Blocks team wish you all a happy and prosperous 2016.
