Restarting SDL Tridion Services Using A Batch File

We all know that restarting Tridion Services can be a real pain especially on a development server that may have every single service installed on it.

A quick and easy way to do this is to write a Windows Batch file to restart these for you.

On your Tridion server, all you need to do is right-click on an area where you want to create this file and go to New -> Text Document

Give the file a name with the file extension of .bat (Make sure that hide extensions for known file types is disabled)

New Text Document

Right-Click the file and click Edit then paste the following code into the file:

[gist id=3879176]

You can take out/put in the services you do/don't want to restart and save the file.

To run this, all you need to do is double-click on the file and it will restart the services.

I was surprised to find that when I show people something as simple as a this that they hadn't had thought about it before. You could maybe throw in a iisreset at the end of the process too.

Hopefully this will help you claw back a few minutes from your day or you can at least set the batch file going and go and grab yourself a cup of tea whilst the code does the rest!
